The beginning
Winter 2023 - Bought the van and scheduled install at Nirvana Outfitters in Leominster of the following components:
- Rear sliding windows on side - they seem a little hard to open but are nice
- Vent fan - a must have, this one has a motorized open and close cover; prevents rain from coming in even when open
- Window in Side door with slider - Very dark and hard to see out when driving; haven't used it much. We either have the side door open and use the screen or close the door. Just haven't used the van much yet.
- Side screen - a bit annoying as it came with screen on one side and most of the other side a solid fabric. This is apparently useful when the kitchen area is against that wall and sticks out into the door opening, but we weren't doing that and wanted it to be all screen. Was disappointed when we picked it up but by then my Dad was not doing well in rehab and it was his birthday so I didn't push it. They said 'it comes like that' but I recall we ordered it custom made.??? Also the bottom of that side of the screen didn't attach to the van because it was planned(by them but not us) to attach to the back of the kitchen unit which we didn't have. I ended up making an extension to attach it to the van.
This experience made me decide to make my own rear screen.... see later post.
Also note we got a floor mat and roll it up and put it on the stair when underway. It helps keep mud and stuff out of the van.
Also note at some point we got the running boards - a long one on passengers side and a short one on the driver's side. Really helps getting in and out.
We also installed side window deflectors.
Above: shows the side 'screen' but with the right side rolled down.
Below: This is the extension I added so the screen would seal...
